S.M.I.L.E Is A Faith Based Group of Volunteers that was founded on September 02, 2008 by: Alexandra Arjona. Our vision is to transform lives with the use of Love, Compassion and Dignity all while trying to "create change" in the community. S.M.I.L.E commits to servicing the community through volunteer work, sponsorships, partnerships and contributions, monetary donations, and gifts. We regularly partner with other organizations to volunteer --- this is what we call “Communal Service”. Our volunteering provides opportunities to give back to others and builds strong relationships with a wide variety of people and organizations. Our motto is “HELP1HEAL1”making our volunteer efforts invaluable.
S.M.I.L.E created change at Bethany Place in Belleville IL, for Father’s day on June 15th 2012 donating $100 cash along with hair products for women and children, and clothing for men’s transitional shelter.
S.M.I.L.E has been creating change --- since September 2, 2009 --- at a shelter for Homeless Men in Hazel crest IL, Through Pads winter program we are able to provide and serve a meal to 40 men every 3rd Sunday of the month --- starting in October and lasting through April.
S.M.I.L.E has been creating change --- since May 2, 2009 --- at SSHARC for their Aids Run/Walk fundraiser
S.M.I.L.E created change on August 5, 2011 at SSHARC's annual picnic, joining all the committees and covering all staffs needs. The patients had the chance not only to enjoy food and games but to also experience what S.M.I.L.E has to offer. They were definitely left smiling.
S.M.I.L.E created change by volunteering twice at The Chicago Greater Food Depository, for the month of July and August of this year. On behalf of Restorations Ministries in Harvey IL, we volunteered so that they can meet their goal of 21 people to shop for their food pantry.
S.M.I.L.E created change on March 26, 2011 at SSHARC's wellness event Real Men Test / Real Women Know at Faith Methodist Church in Dolton IL.
S.M.I.L.E created change on December 18, 2010 at Christ Victory Assembly Church in Lansing IL at their 1st Annual Leadership Service Awards. They recognized Carolyn Wadlington Zeta Chapter in Alsip IL and Judy Whalen Thornton Fractional South High School Principal in Lansing IL, for their outstanding Leadership.
